Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas

Beatrix Hathaway has always been considered the most peculiar of the Hathaway clan. More comfortable hiking through the woods around the family's home than in a drawing room. And she has no particular liking for Captain Christopher Phelan, one of the local golden boys who thinks her too peculiar for polite society.

But when Christopher goes to war and begins to write to Bea's friend Prudence, Bea sees a side of his soul that she had never even guessed he possessed and, since Pru had no intention to answer him, Bea does...signing Pru's name.

A world away from each other, they fall in love...but a love that has heartbreak written all over it, unless Christopher finds the true author of the letters that kept him sane during the war.

Beatrix has always been a favorite of mine, ever since the beginning of the Hathaway Series; I was half afraid that I expected too much of her book but my trust was well placed on Lisa Kleypas, and she delivered a beautiful story for Bea. Christopher was a good hero, sometimes he was Mr. Jerky Pants but he does redeem himself.

And Albert - his dog - was a great asset to him ('cause he revealed a lot of Christopher's character). And, by the way, as I expected there was lots of animals in Bea's book and that made it even more awesome. Oh and Cam and Amelia's son was Super Cute!

Love in the Afternoon was a lovely book and a very nice wrap up for the series, for the most part. I'm of the opinion that there were a couple of things toward the end that felt thrown in at the last second, and there was not enough Harry and Poppy for me.

Cover Love #8 - Bloody Valentine

Isn't it absolutely gorgeous? I don't know who's in charge of these Disney-Hyperion covers but GOOD WORK!! don't ever leave the Blue Bloods because their covers are absolutely awesome and they all fit so nicely together!! That is always a plus.

(Hear me out, cover people, unless the original cover is hideous - and the Blue Bloods' covers are not! - no one likes a cover change mid series!!! NO. ONE.)

Anyway, Melissa de la Cruz revealed it today in her blog along with a tid bit or two of what the book is about, check it out (plus, she's a very funny blogger in my opinion).

At The Movies: Never Been Kissed

Summer is here and I figured it would be nice to feature some of my favorite Summer Movies, so here we go!

Josie has never been one of the popular girls. She's smart, she's okay with her life, she likes her job but, when the opportunity comes, Josie jumps at the chance of a Do Over. For her first assignment as a reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times, 25 year old Josie Geller is going back to high school.

Going back to high school was supposed to help Josie get her big break as a journalist, but it might give her so much more than that...

Throw in a cute teacher, cute guys, clique-y girls, actual friends and Josie's crazy brother and you have the makings of a really good summer movie.

I still remember the summer when I saw Never Been Kissed for the first time, back when I was a geeky girl going to Prep School. I loved it then, and I love it still - I catch it every time is on TV.

Never Been Kissed, shows that it's never too late to find do things right, to find love, to get what you want, to find yourself... and for that, it shall always remain a favorite.

Only the Good Spy Young by Ally Carter

Warning, possible spoilage of previous books in the series.

If the end of summer is anything to go by, Cammie Morgan's life just turned upside down and it will be a long time before things are normal... if normal is possible ever again.

One of the people she trusted the most has been labeled as a double agent, working precisely with the organization that tried to abduct her just a few months ago. Part of her is in denial, part of her is scared and the rest just wants answers.

Why does the Circle of Cavan wants her? Could that person really betray her? What does it had to do with her father? And where does Zach Goode fits in all of it?

In Only The Good Spy Young, some of these questions are answered, and some answers just launch even more questions but, let me tell you, is a very fast paced ride. Even though we are in book four of the Gallagher Girls and have been with Cammie and her friends before, there is just so much we don't know yet, so much Cammie doesn't know yet and I sort of love being there with her to find out... and to question.

I adored this book from beginning to end, it kept me guessing, it kept me wondering and I was surprised at the level of emotion it evoked in me. This series has progressed and come so far from the beginning, I like seeing the growth in Cam, Bex, Liz and Macey as girls and as spies.

Also loved hearing something about Cam's dad, he has been a huge mystery so far, and he still is but... well, I'll say no more.
