Cover Love: Landline by Rainbow Rowell

Yesterday, Rainbow Rowell revealed the cover of her upcoming novel Landline, which will be out next July from St. Martin's Press:

I like the design, is very "Pop", reminds me of the 90's, for some reason.

Here is the summary per Rainbow Rowell's site:
Georgie McCool knows her marriage is in trouble. That it’s been in trouble for a long time. She still loves her husband, Neal, and Neal still loves her, deeply — but that almost seems besides the point now.
Maybe that was always besides the point.
Two days before they’re supposed to visit Neal’s family in Omaha for Christmas, Georgie tells Neal that she can’t go. She’s a TV writer, and something’s come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles. She knows that Neal will be upset with her — Neal is always a little upset with Georgie — but she doesn’t expect to him to pack up the kids and go home without her.
When her husband and the kids leave for the airport, Georgie wonders if she’s finally done it. If she’s ruined everything.
That night, Georgie discovers a way to communicate with Neal in the past. It’s not time travel, not exactly, but she feels like she’s been given an opportunity to fix her marriage before it starts . . .
Is that what she’s supposed to do?
Or would Georgie and Neal be better off if they never got married at all?

I'm very excited!! So far Rainbow Rowell hasn't failed me in the awesome department and I can't wait for what comes next from her.

Lost in You

Ryan Stone is a less than average teenager. He doesn’t have fancy clothes. He doesn’t carry around the latest smartphone and he definitely doesn’t have an MP3 player. Instead, he goes to school, does his chores and dreams of a new life away from Brookfield where he’s expected to follow in his blue collar family’s footsteps.

Hadley Carter is America’s Pop Princess. A successful recording artist living her dream with a sold-out tour and a handful of Grammy’s there isn’t much that she wants for, except love. But finding love on the road is near impossible when all she longs for are romantic dinners, a nighttime stroll on the beach and holding hands with someone who isn’t going to exploit her.

When a chance encounter introduces Ryan to Hadley, will he be like her adoring fans looking for a way in, or will it be Hadley who pursues Ryan even though it might cost her the only career she's ever known.

Lost in You is a story about following your dreams, taking risks and getting lost in love.

Book Gossip: Isla and the Happily Ever After

So, I was messing around trying to find something to buy with a 10% off coupon off Book Depository that a friend sent me when I came across... the cover and back copy for Isla and the Happily Ever After.

I'm surprised by how excited I am about this, because I liked Anna but didn't love it (I don't think I loved it until the second time I read it) and I HATED Lola (though her parents were awesome). But yeah! I'm totally looking forward to Isla!

So, without further ado, here we go!

Cover Love: The Sum of All Kisses by Julia Quinn

So, after a few years of books that were just OK but not super awesome (at least to me) I'm finally LOVING Julia Quinn again and her Smythe-Smith Quartet!! My favorite so far is Just Like Heaven though A Night Like This was very enjoyable as well.

So, when I found the cover for the third book: The Sum of All Kisses, I had to share it!!!

US Cover

Summary (per GoodReads):
Hugh Prentice has never had patience for dramatic females, and if Lady Sarah Pleinsworth has ever been acquainted with the words shy or retiring, she's long since tossed them out the window. Besides, a reckless duel has left this brilliant mathematician with a ruined leg, and now he could never court a woman like Sarah, much less dream of marrying her.

Sarah has never forgiven Hugh for the duel he fought that nearly destroyed her family. But even if she could find a way to forgive him, it wouldn't matter. She doesn't care that his leg is less than perfect, it's his personality she can't abide. But forced to spend a week in close company they discover that first impressions are not always reliable. And when one kiss leads to two, three, and four, the mathematician may lose count, and the lady may, for the first time, find herself speechless

Now, I LOVED Hugh in the last book, but I haven't particularly liked Sarah - she's a bit whiny in my opinion, but maybe seeing things from her perspective will change my mind.

In any case, I can't wait to read this book!!!

Cover Love: Pheme the Gossip & Persephone the Daring

Hey Guys!
I want to start the year on a happy note so I want to share the couple for the 2 upcoming Goddess Girls Series.

Yeah, I know I'm super obsessed with this series but its really cute, y'all!

Pheme the Gossip (April 2)
As the goddess girl of rumor and gossip, Pheme prides herself on being “in the know” and having the most up-to-date info on anyone and everyone at Mount Olympus Academy. To make sure that people really get her VIP messages, her words tend to linger in cloud letters above her head—just in case people don’t catch what she says!

But not everyone is thrilled with Pheme’s insider knowledge on everything MOA—including the Goddess Girls. Can Pheme ever be trusted? Or will this “gossip girl” find herself on the other end of the rumors?

Mortal rock star Orpheus steals the spotlight in this Goddess Girls tale of love and lyres!

Orpheus is a mortal rock god, and the girls at Mount Olympus Academy are wild about him! With his lyre and singing voice, Orpheus can charm pretty much anything—even things like stones and trees. But Hades and the other MOA boys aren’t charmed. In fact, they are less than thrilled that the girls are so gaga over this guy.

His fans are especially excited about his latest song about the girl he loved and lost, Eurydice. Orpheus was devastated when he lost Eurydice to the Underworld, so he asks Persephone to help get her back. Though it means breaking some very serious Underworld rules, Persephone pushes Hades to return Eurydice to the living world. But restoring Orpheus’s one true love might jeopardize Persephone’s own chances with her biggest crush...

I'm really excited for these two books, I've loved the way Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams have handled integrating other girls into the series, aside from the original four, so I hope Pheme's book is just as good as Medusa's and Pandora's. And I LOVE Persephone, she's my favorite Goddess Girls and I love how cute she and Hades are.

Anyway, happy first day of the rest of the year!!

Second-Rate Chances is about a young man fighting to regain his memory, and the one thing in his life that felt real. A modern-day Samson and Delilah, it's a look at what it means to love and be loved, and to fight though it seems hopeless.

About Holly
People have often told me that I live in a fantasy world. Little did they know, I was building an empire of stories in my head to one day share.

I'm a mother first, a wife second, and a writer third. I'm so thankful to have been given this chance to get my stories out of my head and onto paper.

When I'm not writing, I sell plumbing (no I'm not kidding) and read romances that leave my heart a flutter. I know a ridiculous amount of pop culture information and can quote certain movies word for word. Music drives me to write and to also sing off key.

Blurb:
I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.

I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I've poured my soul into my music, but I've never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.

And now I’m going back.

After ten years.

I hope I can explain that after all this time.

I still want her to be my forever girl.

My grandma once told me that I can do anything I want, so I am.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I now live in picturesque Vermont, with my husband and two daughters. Also renting space in our home is an over-hyper Beagle/Jack Russell and two Parakeets.

I'm also an active reviewer on The Readiacs - a site I own with my best friend and uber special beta, Yvette.

Book Gossip: Just One Day by Gayle Forman

I loved If I Stay and Where She Went - even though it took me a lot of time to decide to pick up If I stay -so when I heard about this new set of books by Gayle Forman I was all over that. And last week the cover for the first book, Just One Day (to be followed by Just One Year) was released!

I think I like the cover, though, honest, the one thing I keep noticing the watch more than anything else.
I hope I like the book when it comes out!!

Here’s the official description:

“Sheltered American good girl Allyson “LuLu” Healey has always followed the rules. Laid-back 20-year-old Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter has never been given too many rules to follow, so he just makes them up as he goes along. But when the two first meet in England at an underground performance of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, there’s an undeniable spark.

As they spend just one day together in Paris, that spark bursts into a flame of love, or so it seems to Allyson, anyhow, until the following morning, when she wakes up to discover that Willem has disappeared without a trace. Over the next year, Allyson is forced to come to terms with the narrow confines of the life that has been built for her, and, haltingly at first, through Shakespeare, through travel, and through looking for Willem, to break free of those confines.”

Cover Love: Confederates Don't Wear Couture

Last year I read and loved Pilgrims Don't Wear Pink so I was very excited when I heard that there would be more books featuring Libby, Dev and Garrett: Confederates Don't Wear Couture, which comes out June 2012.

Here is the Summary:

Libby's best friend and fabulous fashion designer, Dev, hatches a plan to jet down South and hawk his period gowns to the wives and girlfriends of Civil War re-enactors. With a pang, Libby abandons her plan to visit her boyfriend, Garrett, in Boston and jumps at the chance to help run "Confederate Couture," and let her inner history nerd loose in a 19th century playground. But Libby and Dev aren't whistling Dixie for long.

Between the constant travel from battle ground to dusty battle ground (with no Starbucks in sight, mind you), blistering heat, and a violent ghost set on romantic revenge, they quickly realize Alabama's no sweet home. And the boys. . . well, let's just say Libby's got the North and the South fighting for her attention. Confederates Don't Wear Couture is another hilarious, historical romp from Stephanie Kate Strohm

Can't wait for it!

Cover Love: Gates of Paradise by Melissa de la Cruz

As you might know, I used to be a huge fan of The Blue Bloods series - I still like the series but I think it has been stretching things a little too much - and one of my favorite things about it is their lovely covers.

So, today I bring you the cover for the upcoming Gates of Paradise (7th and Last book of the series).

Isn't it gorgeous? By the bottom of the cover I think this time they characters are going to London!

Here is the summary, accoridng to Amazon:

Schuyler Van Alen is running out of time. The Dark Prince of Hell is storming the Gates of Paradise, intent on winning the heavenly throne for good. This time he has his greatest angels by his side, Abbadon and Azrael, or as they are known in the coven, Jack and Mimi Force.

Will Bliss and the wolves she has recruited to join her win the battle for the vampires? Is Schuyler prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice, the same one Michael was forced to make in Florence so long ago? Love and vengeance, duty and and loyalty, life and death, are all at odds in the gripping, heartbreaking finale of the Blue Bloods series.

Have to admit I'm a bit excited about it! LOL and this is my favorite cover, tied with the one for Van Alen Legacy.

Cover Love: Pandora the Curious

The other day I was messing about Good Reads and I found the cover for Pandora the Curious (10th book in the Goddess Girls Series) and I got so excited that I needed to share it.

I'm so happy they have kept the theme of the covers through the series so far, and that the covers totally reflect what happens in the book without giving anything away.

Summary (from GoodReads)

Pandora is quite an inquisitive Goddess Girl--but she could stand to be more cautious. Pandora is one of the few mortals at Mount Olympus Academy--and probably the most curious of all the students in school. Her quizzical nature is famous--not that she thinks there is anything wrong with being curious, of course

When a godboy named Epimetheus brings a mysterious and fantastical box to school, Pandora's curiosity is piqued. And when it unexpectedly lands in her lap--literally--she can't help but take a look at what's inside. What could be the harm in that? But little does she know that opening the box will open up more trouble than she thought....

Book Coming out in December, 2012.

But first we have The Girl Games on July 10th.

Cover Love #30 - Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt

I'm so excited to share this cover with all of you! I've come to love Lindsey Leavitt's books (Princess for Hire is awesome!) and when I so the cover for her upcoming book (after Farewell to Charms (PfH3) ) I had to share it!!

Summary (thanks to GoodReads):
The cure for a broken heart? Go vintage and live like it’s 1962!
Mallory’s boyfriend, Jeremy, isn’t just cheating on her. He’s cheating with an online girlfriend. So Mallory decides to swear off boys and modern technology. Inspired by a list of goals her grandmother made in 1962, Mallory decides to “go vintage” and return to a simpler time. She sets out to complete grandma’s list: run for pep club secretary, host a dinner party, sew a homecoming dress, find a steady, do something dangerous.
The list proves to be trickier than it looks. Obviously finding a steady is out . . . no matter how intriguing she finds Oliver (er, Jeremy's cousin). But with the help of her sister, Mallory will finish the list and find peace. Somehow.
GOING VINTAGE is the story of a girl figuring out the truths and illusions of life and love, both in the nostalgic past and in the very real now

Love, Alex.
